My story

From pixelated dreams to pixel-perfect design. How I turned my teenage website hustle into a Product Designer job

During 2016
Final highschool year
Robin and I, both massive video game fans, had a crazy idea: create a service to help other gamers struggling. For 6 months, we were like a mini design team, meeting twice a week, brainstorming, and figuring things out.

Finally, a lot of late nights, we launched our first project – a website to sell our services!

That's when my design journey started. Grabbed a pen and paper, and bam!  I began sketching out the first wireframes to bring our idea to life.
Summer 2018
My first internship landed me at a small French competitor of Wix. While I started in marketing, something clicked. The magic happening on the design side – that, I realized, had a name: product design!

Fascinated, I spent every spare moment shadowing the UX designer. I soaked up everything, from the thrill of user research to the satisfaction of crafting intuitive interfaces. By the end, I was hooked.

This internship wasn't just about marketing anymore. It was a design detective story, and I was determined to crack the case.  Fueled by this newfound passion, I knew exactly what my next move had to be: dive headfirst into the world of product design. Before pursuing my master's, I set my sights on an apprenticeship –  a chance to learn from the best and refine my skills.
During 2019
Ho Chi Minh adventure

My degree just got a real-world upgrade – a year abroad in Vietnam! RMIT University is my new home, and I'm diving deep into design, communication, and business courses.

This Vietnamese adventure isn't just about exploring temples and devouring delicious street food (although, those are definitely perks!).

It's my personal design bootcamp, pushing my skills to the next level and getting me prepped to land that dream product designer role when I return. World, get ready for a designer with a fresh perspective and a hunger to create!
During 2020
Stepping Up to the Product Design Plate

The apprenticeship contract landed, bringing me back to SiteW, the company where I first discovered product design in 2017. Eager to learn, build, and finally apply my knowledge, I joined a fantastic team.

The year was a project-filled journey. One major highlight was spearheading the brand revamp, including the onboarding process and homepage redesign. Each challenge pushed my skills, expanding my design experience.

By the end, I wasn't just an apprentice - I was a capable junior product designer ready for the next challenge.
During 2021
After 2 years of apprenticeship, it was time to continue my journey starting a full-time position at Taster.

As a Principal Product Designer for the supply chain product, I've honed my ability to empathize with users and translate their needs into impactful design solutions. Through extensive user research, I gained a deep understanding of the challenges faced by restaurant workers and owners, leading to the development of solutions that directly addressed their needs.

My collaborative approach enabled me to rapidly ship the Click & Collect app for Taster, demonstrating my ability to deliver high-quality products under tight deadlines.

Recognizing the importance of consistency and efficiency, I spearheaded the creation of a comprehensive design system, ensuring a cohesive and scalable product.

My dedication to improving user experience and streamlining processes has resulted in significant improvements, such as a 20% increase in inventory completion rates through the development of a new inventory system for restaurant kitchens.
Since 2022
After a year at Taster, I joined Jobteaser's team as an experienced product designer.

I was tasked with ensuring that users, from students to companies, had a consistent and enjoyable journey across the platform. I worked for a year on the mobile application designing for both Android and IOS platforms.

I then worked in overhauling the job search experience, resulting in a significant increase in return on investment. But I didn't stop there. I also spearheaded a UI overhaul for the entire platform, collaborating with other designers to explore and present various design options.

The chosen design brought a modern and user-friendly aesthetic to Jobteaser, further enhancing the user experience. My work was not just about aesthetics; it was about driving business results. By revamping the job ad detail page through UI enhancements, I demonstrated the tangible impact of design on the company's bottom line.

Beyond my design projects, I was committed to maintaining a cohesive and efficient design system. I created components, documentation, and leveraged the latest Figma features to ensure consistency and streamline the design process.

My dedication and expertise had a profound impact on Jobteaser, transforming the platform into a more intuitive and effective tool for both job seekers and employers.

Tanguy has demonstrated a strong ability to adapt, quickly developing his skills in complex subjects. He very quickly understood the company's challenges and was a source of new ideas.

To put it simply, if he hadn't left for abroad, he would have had a permanent contract at Orson.
